Join a fun fiction book club with other parents in Omaha!

Parenting is certainly a life of ups and downs!

With moments of intense joy and fulfillment, and other moments of overwhelming heaviness, it’s no surprise that many parents find they need a break sometimes. Here at Nebraska Home Pediatrics & Parents, we know how hard it can be to find that break, and to find other people who understand the situations we’re in. We’re hoping our new fiction book club can offer comfort, fun, and camaraderie!

Is a book club for you?

We think so! Even if reading isn’t typically something you do for fun, you might find that reading alongside other parents and gathering to talk about it can be both fulfilling and relaxing. Our book club will be a fiction book club, so that our members can really escape from the stresses and responsibilities of daily life.

Joining a book club can be a great way to develop a new self-care habit, meet new friends, and bond with other people who understand what life is like as a parent or guardian. Many people who pick up reading as a self-care habit report an increased sense of empathy and world perspective, and those who join a book club often find a familiar bond with the people they read with.

How will Book Club work at Nebraska Home Pediatrics & Parents?

The Nebraska Home Pediatrics & Parents clinic will serve as our home base for book club. Once the books are chosen, we’ll keep them here at the clinic along with our other pediatric resources. Book club members will be able to fill out the form on our Book Club’s book selection pages to reserve their copies, and then pick them up at the clinic. Copies will be held here for up to 72 hours before the book is offered to the next person in line.

In order to give everyone in book club a chance to read the books, we ask that they be returned within 7-10 days. We will meet monthly at different coffee shops or other spots around Omaha, Nebraska. You can find out when and where the next meeting is on our Book Club page!

Who can attend Book Club meetings?

If you or your child is one of our patients, you are welcome to join us! The Nebraska Home Pediatrics and Parents book club is designed to bring parents and guardians in the greater Omaha area together for relaxation, socialization, and fun. If you’re looking for a group of people you relate to and your child sees us for medical services, our book club is the perfect way to relax.

We know that schedules can fill up quickly, and it’s not always easy to get the month’s book read in time. That’s okay! If you’re not able to read your book, we would still love for members to show up for meetings. We want to provide a dependable, comfortable place for parents to gather, relax, and find community — we won’t send you home if you haven’t read the book!
