Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Why read for leisure?

Each month, we’ll pick a new book to add to our little community library. While we know there are many parenting books and other high-quality pediatric resources we could be reading, the Nebraska Home Pediatrics & Parents Book Club is designed to be an escape from the hard work it takes to be a parent. We’ll be sticking to works of fiction for book club, just to keep things on the lighter side! Some of the benefits of reading for fun include:

Stress relief and
self-care
Improvement of
concentration
An expanded
perspective
Increased sense of
empathy

How does book club work?

The books chosen for book club will be housed here at the Nebraska Home Pediatrics & Parents clinic, along with our other pediatric resources. To sign up, simply choose a book and fill out the form at the bottom of the page, in order to reserve your book copy! Once requested and approved, books can be picked up from our clinic. We will only hold copies for up to 72 hours before notifying the next person in line.

We ask that books be returned within 7-10 days, in order to give book club members waiting in line a chance to read the books before the meeting. Meetings will be held monthly at various coffee shops and other meeting spots around Omaha.

Who can come to the book club meetings?

The Nebraska Home Pediatrics & Parents book club is for anyone in the greater Omaha area! If your child sees us for medical services and you are looking for a feeling of community and a place to set your stress aside, our book club is for you!

While our goal is for everyone to read the same book and discuss it, we know that life can get hectic. We encourage you to join us for the meetings, even if you aren’t able to open a book! Let’s be honest – we are really creating a “book club” to give us a reason to get out of the house and have some time to ourselves. Nebraska Home Pediatrics & Parents book club is a time for relaxation, community and fun!
